Is there anything I can do to help arm lift heal? It is red and slightly open. 6 weeks post op. (photos)

This is a common problem with arm lift healing.   Continue to followup with your surgeon to get the best advice as the wounds continue to heal.  There will be months of healing before the scars will mature.  I recommend protein shakes for optimal incision healing.

Thank you for your question about if you can do anything to accelerate the healing of your inner arm after a longitudinal brachioplasty. Upon examining your pictures, I would suggest applying a product called Ventalex. Ventalex accelerates healing by stimulating granulation tissue, which in turn forms skin. I do not see any signs of infection but rather a wound separation. This could be due to sutures that you are allergic to or have become infected with. In any case, conservative treatment is the way to go. I would not suggest surgery to close the wounds. In about 4 to 6 months, you may consider arm scar revision, which can typically be done in the office. Please find an experienced plastic surgeon for arm lifts.

It looks like you have a superficial wound separation. This will usually heal on its own with placement of topical neosporin for a few days to weeks. I would go see your surgeon asap to have him or her evaluate it. Blessings on your journey!

Unfortunately wound healing complications are not uncommon after arm lift surgery. Treatment is local wound care. Your plastic surgeon will guide you on the most appropriate plan of care.
