Hello Thrifty741355, thank you for your question regarding liposuction volume with an extended thighplasty. The amount of fat that can be removed during thigh liposuction really depends on how much fat you have on your thighs and its distribution. In general, for patients who have lost at least 100 pounds or more, approximately 1 liter or more of fat can be safely removed from the inner thigh, typically from the inner thigh to the knee. Fat can also be safely removed from the lateral portion of the thigh. The range of fat removal varies greatly, with some patients needing as little as 200 cc removed, while others may require up to 2 liters of fat removed from each thigh. Therefore, the exact amount is highly dependent on your specific thigh anatomy.Thigh liposuction is an excellent procedure, especially when combined with an extended thighplasty, thigh lift, or thigh reduction. Good luck. I hope I’ve answered your question regarding liposuction volume with extended thighplasty.Sincerely,J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICSPlastic Surgeon
In general when liposuction is associated with other procedures larger blood loss is anticipated. This means that “larger” the other procedure is, the lesser liposuction volume should be planned; in State of Florida a surgeon can remove only up to 1 L of fat if any other procedure is associated with liposuction (TT, breast augmentation). This is best to discuss with your surgeon ahead of surgery. Good luck.
This question is best answered in person by your surgeon. During this procedure you should expect that excess subcutaneous fat and skin will be removed leaving you with a slimmer, improved contour. Your surgeon should be able to demonstrate in general terms what you can expect based on your particular situation.
You did not post photos, so you will need to ask the surgeon that will be doing your procedure. He/she has examined you.
There is no way to assess an appropriate volume to be removed without at least seeing pictures.Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize.Lower extremity liposuction is also technically more difficult than other anatomic areas. If you have a plastic surgeon selected, then I suggest you ask them about concerns before your procedure. If you have not selected a provider, then I suggest having multiple in person consultations with plastic surgeons in your community.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
