Does buccal fat pad gives support for the face or not?

Is it true that buccal fat pad removal causes premature sagging and premature aging? Buccal fat pad removal is a boom in Brazil, thousands of people made this surgery. Doctors say buccal fat pad is useless. and it´s a deep fat that does not give any support for the face and do not cause sagging or aging when removed. They love doing bichectomy. What is your opinion?

Buccal fat removal does not causes premature sagging or premature aging of the face IF and ONLY IF the patient has good cheekbones. Buccal fat does not give support to the face. The support to the face is given by the cheek bones. It is the bone structure that holds the structures of the face (soft tissue). When buccal fat is removed in patient with good bone support ( good cheek bones) the face looks chiseled and youthful. However, when the face has poor cheek bones and they are not enhanced before or at the time of buccal fat removal, the face will sag (look older) because there is no bonny support. Therefore, the results of the buccal fat depends on the cheekbones. Patients interested in chubby cheek correction should make a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon specialist in buccal fat removal.

Buccal fat excision is an appropriate surgical procedure for patients that of overly full and wide cheek areas. In common terms, it is good for patients who have chipmunk cheeks. With a well-performed procedure, it will not cause premature sagging and/or aging, but will give definition to the face. I hope this helps
