I had Buccal Fat removal and chin and jaw liposuction. When will the swelling go down?
Answer: Swelling after buccal fat reduction Swelling can persist for some time, and asymmetry is common during the healing phase. Remember, we are all asymmetric on all parts of the body, and it is a given that your asymmetry will be there after your operation, but there is a good chance it will improve. Be patient...swelling can last and healing can take several months. It is important that you seek the advice of a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who has extensive experience with buccal fat reduction surgery. I wish you the best! Dr. Gabbay.

Answer: 5 weeks po buccal fat removal. My left cheek is still swollen = healing still happening #buccalfatremoval Swelling post buccal fat removal could be asymmetric in certain patients. Usually the side that requires more "work" by the surgeon is the one that tends to swell more.Buccal fat removal post surgical swelling could last several weeks in some patients (e.g 5 weeks or more). Healing post buccal fat removal takes up to three months. Therefore, residual assymetric swelling before 3 months could be normal in some patients.

Answer: Swelling after buccal fat reduction Swelling varies from patient to patient. It also depends on how much dissection through the buccinator muscle had to be done in order to reach the fat pad - this dissection can influence significantly the amount of swelling, and can be a simple explanation for asymmetrical swelling. Truth is, I recommend giving your operating surgeon a call and asking him what to expect as they performed the procedure and will help guide you through the post operative process.
