My cheek bones are starting to looking contoured which I love. Some days it looks way smaller and some days the swelling comes back. Is this normal for the swelling to be up and down? Also cheek dimples have started to form. They’re there basically but you can’t see them as much because of the swelling. I’ve never had dimples I love dimples but I just would like and opinion as to how they formed and also some help with the swelling.

Answer: Swelling after facial lipo/buccal fat pad reduction Great question. Its not uncommon to see swelling fluctuate for a few weeks after having the procedure you described. Reason being that the buccal space is, by definition, a potential space where a lot of the lymphatic drainage of the face converges prior to going on to the neck. It's not uncommon in the healing process to see fluctuating swelling happen as the body heals. The best thing to do at this time is keep your head elevated and let gravity naturally help the lymphatic drainage make its way down. Another option is a lymphatic massage. Again you would have to clear that with your operating surgeon as some people do not want any manipulation in the post operative period. As far as the dimpling is concerned, dimples are formed by the natural attachment of the muscles associated with smiling and the corners of the mouth/skin. buccal fat pad reduction can help accentuate this as it may have been masking the natural attachments of your smiling muscles. Congratulations on your procedure! Now its just a matter of letting things heal. Best of luck!
