How do I make my wide face more narrow? (Photo)

Question

My face becomes very wide if I gain any fat. I was wondering if there was anything that could be done through surgery or lipo. I have heard of buccal fat removal and Cheekbone reduction surgery. Also, Are any options permanent and what would the cost look like? The pictures below are of me pretty skinny. I want to gain weight for sports but I don't want my face to look so large. My face also looks more wide when I smile.

The width of the face is determined by different structures.The width of the upper face with is usually determined by the cheek bones.The width of the lower face is usually determined by the fullness of the lower cheeks. The fullness of the lower cheeks (chubby cheeks) is caused by the size of the buccal fat pads.Buccal fat removal, by removing the buccal fat pads partially or totally could make the lower face more narrow in patient candidates.Patients interested in making their lower face more narrow should make a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon specialist in buccal fat removal to determine if the are candidates for the procedure.

There are an assortment of procedures available to narrow a wide face. The key is to determine which is the best for each patient.  Buccal fat reduction is a great procedure for those who have fullness in the midportion of the cheeks - behind the smile lines ("nasolabial folds"), but in front of the jaw's contribution to the cheeks (masseter muscle).  Other treatments for facial slimming include botox to the masster muscle, liposuction of the cheeks, jaw shaving, etc. Your case is representative of most who seek this: it's difficult to see what component of your cheeks are full from the photos. You will have much more accurate assessment with an in person consultation .It is important that you seek the advice of a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who has extensive experience with buccal fat reduction surgery.

Buccal fat excision is an appropriate surgical procedure for patients that of overly full and wide cheek areas. In common terms, it is good for patients who have chipmunk cheeks. In reviewing your pictures, is difficult to tell if you're a good candidate because your cheek area is slightly full but not overly full. You are a patient that would need and in person consultation for a complete evaluation and explanation of the positives and negatives of this procedure in your situation.

The buccal fat pad is a rounded mass of fat in the middle of your cheek. It’s located between facial muscles, in the hollow area beneath your cheekbone. 
The size of your buccal fat pads affects your face shape. Everyone has buccal fat pads. However, the size of buccal fat pads can vary greatly. If you have larger buccal fat pads, you might feel like your face is too round or full. You can be a candidate for a Buccal Pad removal surgery.

Dimtri Gaining weight for sports when done correctly should not make your face fat. If done correctly, and your muscle mass is increase and you keep your body fat percentage down, your face should continue to be as defined as you are in these photos. that being said, buccal fat reduction would help define your face and make your cheeks more pronounced. i would never tell anyone to reduce cheek bone unless there was such a significant cranofacial syndrome, or an overgrowth of bone. Best of luckDr. M
