If you are looking for something completely nonsurgical, I would stick with something like Coolsculpting. That is the only procedure with absolutely no down time. Liposuction or SMARTLipo is not as invasive as an open contouring procedure, such as an abdominoplasty, however it still involves some down time and significant delayed postoperative swelling and edema. For the nonsurgical options, however, the improvement can be minimal, so I would temper your expectations.
Dear Melissa Clark,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
The SmartLipo tiny laser in inserted and precisely targets the treatment area. The heat of the laser can have the benefit of skin tightening. Results vary as there are many factors to consider. Results will be optimized if you also live a healthy lifestyle by working out regularly and eating well. Cheat on the weekends though, I do : )
Throughout medical training we learn isms and here sayings. One of those is the internal medicine doctors approach “ surgery is the failure of medicine“.In other words surgery should be the last resort and means that nonsurgical options have failed by definition.I think you’ll find that the reason people are willing to have surgery for what you describe is because the nonsurgical options have consistently failed.Weight loss and exercise is free and for most people on the healthy side. And well however not deal with skin laxity, muscle separation from previous pregnancies or being born with an undesirable fat distribution.People undergo cosmetic surgery for a reason. it works. There are no effective nonsurgical options for what you describe.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Hi and welcome to our forum!Without photos, I can't provide specific recommendations. Abdominal fullness may be due to subcutaneous fat accumulation, rectus abdominis muscle stretching as the result of pregnancy, overabundance of visceral (internal) fat, skin stretching with disruption of dermal elastic fibers occurring during pregnancy, creating permanent scarring of the skin surface and diminished elasticity resulting in increased stretching and skin looseness. The extent and nature of the problem must be determined to decide if a non-surgical modality (if relatively minimal), liposuction, or tummy tuck would be the best option of treatment. Best wishes...
This is very common problem. Non-surgical means there is no cutting into the skin or underneath the skin. Nonsurgical fat reduction and skin tightening work on small stubborn areas. Examples of procedures would be Evolve by Inmode, Physiq by Cartessa, and many more similar technologies. Most of them work by applying RF energy, that will melt fat and tighten the skin. One step up from that could be Morpheus8 body - RF Microneedling. If you’re looking for one time session with best results then go for surgical procedure like liposuction where you know that fat was taken out for sure, and you can combine it with a skin tightening procedure like BodyTite.
SmartLipo does not dissolve fat, but removes it via a tiny laser, the laser heats the fat and then suctions it out. It sounds like you just need to kick start your weight loss and you maybe a candidate for SmartLipo. Skin elasticity is a factor and there are many skin tightening treatments that...
Dear Dynamic212694,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member,...
Yeah correct that the area of concern is complex and does not always respond the way people had anticipated from fat removal procedures. The main reason for this is that both skin laxity and skin compression contribute substantially to contour in this area. A good assessment should begin by...
Smart Laser Lipo of your neck would be under local anesthesia and very safe. It would be a good option for you with the expectation of better definition of your jawline and tightening of the neck. It is imperative that the surgeon does an adequate amount of lasering for best results.
Thank you for your question. Smartlipo incisions are 3-5 mm in length and usually close in 2-3 days. They continue to heal over time and if a scar gel is prescribed by your surgeon the incisions usually fade over time and appear as faint lines. Some patients do form keloids but they are not the...
Yes. The Smartlipo procedure can be repeated one year later. You typically get the full results of the procedure in 12 months.
