However, one must point out that smart lipo or liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. We recommend that a patient exercise and diet to lose excess weight, and if there are areas that are stubborn and won't budge with weight loss, then liposuction can be used to help. Weight gain is common for those going through menopause or after having a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, more effort may have to be put in to lose this weight; therefore, consulting with a dietician or nutritionist be helpful. Dieticians work with patients struggling to lose weight due to health-related issues. Once you get on track with stabilizing your weight, consider consulting several surgeons for professional opinions. Best of Luck.

SmartLipo does not dissolve fat, but removes it via a tiny laser, the laser heats the fat and then suctions it out. It sounds like you just need to kick start your weight loss and you maybe a candidate for SmartLipo. Skin elasticity is a factor and there are many skin tightening treatments that compliment SmartLipo.
Go to a Doctor that performs SmartLipo regularly, to me SmartLipo is like an art and only an experienced practitioner appreciates that.

If before you gained weight you never had a problem with any particular area on your body which was out of proportion, then you absolutely do NOT need to have liposuction of any kind. We generally turn down at least 30% of our patients from such procedures because it will disturb their metabolism permanently. Simply make an effort at losing weight by eating healthy and if necessary consultant a nutritionist to help you with that. Adding some form of exercise will also help. Liposuction should only be performed in patient where there are fatty deposits that are out of proportion to the rest of the body. I hope this helps and good luck from your side of plastic surgery

Liposuction is my its very nature a quite simplistic procedure. All it really is is a thin stainless steel tube connected to a suction pump.

With that very simplistic equipment plastic surgeons are able to make some very dramatic changes.

There are two variables that determine if someone is going to have a quality outcome from Liposuction.

The first variable is the individual patient’s candidacy for the procedure.

Typically ideal Liposuction candidates fit what I sometimes call the ideal triad of being “Young tight and pudgy”.

This means a 21-year-old woman who is 20 pounds overweight and has never had kids and carries her fat in less than ideal areas of her body is most likely going to get the most impressive results.

A 65-year-old woman who lost 75 pounds and has had six children it’s probably not a candidate and will have an impressive results from Liposuction.

That was the first variable.

The second valuable is who does the procedure.

Who does the procedure is probably just as important as someone’s candidacy for the procedure.

The results of Liposuction vary greatly among different people including those who are board-certified in plastic surgery.

Delivering consistent high-quality Liposuction results is more difficult than people believe.

The range of outcome can go from stunning body transformations to irreparable disfigurement.

There isn’t much you can do about your own candidacy other than getting a clear understanding of if you have the potential for getting good results or not. To do that you several in person consultations with talented local board-certified plastic surgeons who have a lot of experience.

During the consultation they should be able to make an assessment and explain what type of results you could have and why.

To minimize ending up with an undesirable outcome and maximizing having a quality outcome do you need to find the most experienced and talented providers for Liposuction in your community.

For this you need to simply have a lot of consultations.

During each consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures for abdominal liposuction.

Ask them to show you their best results, average results and less than results.

Simply seeing a handful of representative results which in fact are the best results of that providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of that provider.

It also does not give me any confirmation of how many procedures that surgeon has performed.

If a surgeon is willing to show you their entire portfolio of before and after pictures you’ll get a clear understanding of what average results look like and how much experience with Liposuction this provider has.

An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you 50 or more sets of a domino Liposuction before and after pictures.

Highly experienced surgeons will have hundreds or possibly even thousands of before and after pictures for just liposuction of the abdomen.

Lastly read all the reviews on various physician review websites and avoid providers for the any significant number of justified negative reviews.

The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than an abundance of positive reviews.

Do not schedule surgery during the consultation.

Do not schedule surgery until you’ve had all your consultations that are scheduled and feel quite certain you found the one provider who has the most experienced and is most talented for this procedure.

Avoid traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures.

People do not understand the importance of having multiple in person consultations one in advance of having surgery, the number of people who have real concerns after surgery, need revisions after surgery or that complications actually do happen.

If you’re a good candidate for Liposuction and you find a talented experience provider then none of the problems you’re concerned about should be an issue.

Without height and weight information or photos, I cannot provide a specific suggestion. Liposuction was not designed as a weight loss procedure, but instead is a reshaping operation utilized to eliminate localized repositories of excess fat. Each state has laws limiting the amount of fat that can be safely removed (due to potential hemodynamic concerns). Here in Florida, we can remove up to 4000 cc of fat (approximately 6-8 lbs) at one sitting. BMI, or body mass index (weight in kg / square of height in meters) is one criterion to determine the results of a cosmetic surgery. You can find BMI calculators on the internet. If your BMI is greater than 30, the cosmetic result will not be optimal. If your BMI is greater than 35, your operative risk will rise.
Bumpiness / lumpiness occurs in overcorrected areas or in patients with preexisting loose skin and must be avoided.
Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion.

first of all, it is very important that you understand, that NO type of liposuction, including Smartlipo, is a weight loss technique. if you want to look your best, you will need to lose weight by better eating habits and to a much less extent, with the help of exercising. Smartlipo is great for decreasing the amount of fat in a specific area but it is not magic. I have found that many of my patients when they do Smartlipo get more motivated to work on better diets and lose weight since they can already see a great improvement due to the Smartlipo. I have a diet i recommend on my web site.

it is very important that you see a Board Certified PLASTIC SURGEON, and not just some dr who bought the Smartlipo equipment. A cosmetic surgeon is NOT a plastic surgeon. Training and skill make a huge difference. I have done over 9 years of post medical surgical training to become a plastic surgeon. you are much less likely to have complications if you go with a plastic surgeon.

This is a very common issue after hysterectomy and with aging. I do not recommend any lions of liposuction until you get to your happy weight. Liposuction is not weight loss and you will regain it all back if nothing else changes in your lifestyle. Your options for peer BMI- semaglutide medications, Orbera balloon - 6 month treatment for weight loss, ESG- non surgical stomach tightening. 1 st options probably best.
