Will RF treatment tighten my skin or dissolve fat or filler?

Question

Almost all RF treatment will cause heat under the skin. They claim it can tighten skin by the heat. But I worry about if it will dissolve the fat in my face (which will cause loss of volume) and the filler I just injected in my face. Will the RF treatment tighten skin or cause face loss volume?

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

RF is great for skin tightening and would not affect the fat if used properly according to the recommended settings.

The non penetrating (without needles) RF can affect fillers and fat. There is no way to determine the depth of heat with these devices. The needle RF devices like Infini, go to a level that is set by the operator to deliver their energy. Fillers in the dermis are potentially at risk for all these devices. However, if the filler is below the dermis, as I do with cannulas, the Infini can be used safely and not disturb these fillers. With the other RF, they still can degrade fillers because they can go deeper than the dermis.
