Would getting a septum piercing negatively affect my ability to have a Revision Rhinoplasty in the future?

I have a botched rhinoplasty due to uneven bridge (one side is lower than the other height-wise) and pinched nostrils (they look 'deflated'). I am therefore considering getting Revision Rhinoplasty in the future. However, in the short term I was interested in a septum ring piercing for my nose. This would create a hole in my septum I guess. I'm just wondering: would getting a hole in my septum from this piercing negatively impact ability to get Revision Rhinoplasty in the future?

Hi there. Thanks for the great question. It can really depend. If the piercing is going to be quite large and your previous rhinoplasty utilized much of your septal cartilage, it could present a problem. The caudal septum where the piercing would go is critical for tip support. Often times in revision cases, grafting material is added and stabilized to the existing septum. If you're thinking about a revision seriously, I would hold off on any piercing until you've had a discussion with a prospective surgeon. Hope this is useful!
