Can anything help my prematurely aged hands? (Photos)

Question

The skin all over my body has been prematurely aged as a result of a particular medication I took many years ago. It is particularly evident on the backs of my hands. Can anything be done to improve the skin on the backs of my hands, like maybe some kind of resurfacing? If I pinch the skin the skin remains looking pinched for a while afterwards. I'm also concerned that the med has somehow impacted the skin's collagen. Current theories include gene dysregulation. I'm 51, male

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser.  Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

I must "hand" it to you, this is a good question.  A combination of a non-ablative Fraxel Dual laser with the injection of a robust hyaluronic acid like restylane lyft or RHA 4 will do the trick.  After putting sunblock on your face daily, make sure to rub the extra onto the back of your hands. Good luck and be well.

For improving the texture and hydration of the skin of your hands, you would likely benefit from the regular, daily at-home use of topical skin care products containing nicacinamide and/or low concentrations of alphahydroxyacids or retinoids combined with the inoffice treatments with HA skin boosters to increase hydration and tautness of the skin and a series of superficial peels containing either high concentrations of alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxyacids.. Of course the regular use of mineral-based sunscreens during the sun season is a must. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Thank you for your query. You seem to have lost some of the elasticity of your skin. I would recommend RF treatments to build up the collagen for your hands followed by  autologous fat injections along with PRP. I have  had excellent results with these treatments. Yes it is possible to rejuvenate the appearance of your hands.  Consider Renuva to improve volume loss.  This is different from typical fillers because while you get the immediate volume that HA fillers provide, over time the product is replaced by your body's own fat which means longer lasting results.  You can also consider topical treatments to improve overall skin texture.
