I read a paper (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4509584) from 2015 about how micro needling can be used to treat atrophic acne scars. There was a statistically significant increase in collagen, decrease in total elastin, and enhancement of collagen and elastin deposition and formation. My understanding is that elastin is generally considered a good thing, which would suggest that a decrease in total elastin is a bad thing. How should I interpret this paper?
