Thank you for asking! Pricing in this space can feel confusing; it's important pause and compare. Now, to your question. On average, perineoplasty tends to cost less than vaginoplasty - but that's not always the case. In fact, in my practice, vaginoplasty is priced higher. Speaking generally, here's why you may find a lower-priced vaginoplasty - because not all “vaginoplasties” are actually true vaginoplasties and expertise matters. A true vaginoplasty involves removal of lax mucosal tissue as well as tightening the deeper vaginal muscles (deep transverse perineal muscle), which requires significant surgical expertise and time. Some lower-priced “vaginoplasty” procedures may only tighten tissue at the vaginal opening (Perineum), rather than repairing the deeper muscles and the entire canal past the opening. These can be less effective at meeting a patient's "tightening" goals and may not provide long-term results. Similarly, a properly-performed perineoplasty focuses on rebuilding and tightening the perineal tissue which includes skin, deep tissue and a complex of muscles (superficial and transverse perineal muscle)—a structurally-important part of the anatomy that supports both function and aesthetics. This highly-technical procedure requires meticulous skill and surgical experience. When done properly, this procedure will often lengthen the perineal body which is the distance between the vaginal and anal opening. The price you were quoted for this procedure aligns with what highly-skilled surgeons generally charge. In my practice as a board-certified labiaplasty surgeon, our pricing reflects both the depth of the repair and the level of specialization required to perform these procedures safely and effectively, optimizing your comfort and confidence. This is one of those times where comparing price alone can be misleading. The best next step is to ask each provider what their procedure actually entails - specifically, whether muscle repair is included, how long their results typically last, how many of these procedures they have performed and their revision rate. You deserve a result that is aesthetically pleasing, structurally sound and functionally improved. Best Wished, ~Dr. Poucher
