I stopped smoking 5 days before surgery. Should I be concerned?

While you should ideally stop smoking for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your BAM, you must NOT smoke for a minimum or 24 hours before and 24 hours after surgery. Definitely stop smoking! Smoking reduces circulation to the skin and impedes healing.

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. 5 days is a short period of smoking cessation. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.
