Recovery rates and the amount of pain you will experience varies from patient to patient. Recovery can depend on the extent of the procedure and how much fat is removed. You should be able to return to regular activity within a less than a week, and resume exercise within four to six weeks. You will be sore for a few days. Other factors that will impede the rate of recovery include: smoking, alcohol intake and poor nutrition.
You should expect some pain (pinches, pressure, even tickle over the ribs) during the procedure and a few days afterwards. Your doctor will pre medicate and perhaps play music during lipo. Many patients patients are able to return to work 48 hours after the procedure (which is also the length of time for the drainage to dissipate). Soreness may persist for up to a week after Lipo.
I have created a rapid recovery program that involves minimal anesthesia, use of energy devices to melt fat and reduce bruising, special garments from South America, and a nutrition plan. We tell patients to take 2 days off of work and 2 weeks off of exercise
The recovery time is different for every patient, depending on area treated, the amount of fat removed, their level of fitness, their age etc. But for most patients it's around 1 week. That does not mean bed rest, just no strenuous activity. A lot of our patients will go back to work in a few days. We perform our procedures under local anesthesia and on average patients rate the pain as minimal, less than 2 on a scale of 10.
