Is is safe to get a deep dental cleaning 48 hours after Botox?

Question

I have a Botox appointment on Thursday, and am getting a deep dental cleaning on Saturday. A local anesthetic may be used. Will this or having my mouth open for a prolonged period of time have any effect on my Botox?

There should be no problem getting a dental cleaning 48 hours after a botox treatment. It is important to avoid strenuous exercise or massage to this area for the first few hours after treatment, but certainly by the next day there are no restrictions.

There should be no issue with having some dental services after Botox injections.  I may have concern about a deep dental cleaning after Dermal Filler injections however.  If a deep cleaning causes some release of bacteria during the cleaning there may be concern about affecting the fillers.

Assuming that the Botox is injected in the forehead and not in the areas associated with TMJ treatment, it would be safe to get the dental cleaning any time after Botox, even if an  anesthetic is used.

Hi there, Typically I do recommend 24 hrs of no exercise after botox injection to prevent the botox from traveling to unintended areas. Afterwards, you can resume activities at your regular pace.In regards to dental cleaning and mouth opening, you should be okay after 48 hrs particularly if you are having forehead and eye injections. No problem. The only way a dental cleaning would interfere is if you had botox around the mouth on the same day. You’ll be fine.
