dear patient: thanks for your question and your photo.  As my other colleagues have stated, it is not uncommon that patients develop a sensitivity or rash due to the usage of compression garments.  You will need an in person exam to make sure you're healing well and that the rash is treated.  Usually the best thing would be to change the brand of the compression garment, and to use topical steroid cream treatment for the rash. If it persists you should see a Dermatologist as well.  

I would agree with your surgeon, that the most likely cause of the rash under your chin and behind your ears after your liposuction procedure, is due to the compression garment.  I have seen this occur in the past.  If you were still instructed to wear the garment, I would speak with your surgeon to come up with an alternative.  The rash should resolve after you have stopped wearing the garment.  

my best guess if you have a contact dermatitis. If you have a contact dermatitis.It could be from the antiseptic soap they put on your skin for the procedure but that would most likely have shown sooner than one week.If you're allergic to the compression garment that would most likely also have shown earlier. You could ask your plastic surgeon to prescribe I mailed anti-inflammatory steroid cream.  For more accurate assessment see a dermatologist.  Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
