Good afternoon. Thanks for your question. Most of the patient have this problem after the procedure, it is normal in most of the cases, you don't have to be scared, you just have to ask your surgeon how to handle it, but water ingest can help you a lot. Move and drink liquid. You will be ok .

Narcotic pain medications usually cause constipation.  I recommend that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon at this time.

Thank you for your question. There are a few different reasons that patients experience constipation after surgery. The GI tract is the last to wake up after any surgical procedure if any type of anesthesia is used and/or any form of pain meds. I always recommend patients drinking a lot of fluids. Even picking up stool softeners for post procedural constipation prevention.  It is normal to have little to no bowl movements for a day or so after surgery, but once pain begins you will want to consult with your doctor to alleviate any further complications.
