I am 38 years old African American female. I'm active & healthy. I am planning to have a bbl and tummy tuck this year. I recently had blood work and found out my platelets are low, my count is 122 . the average is 140 +. Does having low platelets affect my chances of having plastic surgery , my hemo is 12.8.
Answer: Low platelet count and BBL Thanks for your question. I would recommend that you consult with a hematologist to find out why your platelet count is low. You may need a referral from your primary care provider. The hematologist can then assist you in determining if and when you will be ready to move forward with the cosmetic procedures that you are interested in.

Answer: My platelet count is low and I want to have bbl, tummy tuck and lipo all at once, is it possible? This may not be an issue, but a hematologist should review your specifics and provide medical clearance before proceeding.

Answer: Platelet count is low.... Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. It's important to know the cause of the low platelets before having the surgery, because low platelets increase the risk of bleeding. I recommend you to make an appointment with a specialist to evaluate your blood work. Then later, an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your concerns and goals.Good luck :)

Answer: BBL makeover Your platelet count, which is just on the low side, is not a contraindication to having surgery. I would probably order a few laboratory studies just to make sure the platelets are actually working correctly. Regarding the surgery, yes it's possible to do it that way, however, it can give you some positioning issues, as the tummy tuck means you'll be hunched over for a couple weeks at least, and the BBL means you can't sit or sleep on your back/buttocks. For this reason, I try to do the BBL first, with aggressive lipo to the abdomen and back/waist, followed by the lipo-tummy tuck 3 months later, at a discount. This also allows for a touch up to the BBL if necessary, or if more volume is desired. I'm not saying you can't have it, but doing them all together presents its own issues that you need to be aware of.
