It is not uncommon to notice irregularities along the obliques after a tummy tuck. These can be related to how the tissues healed, differences in fat distribution, or how the muscle repair was performed. In many cases, small contour issues can be refined later with targeted liposuction or revision, and they do not necessarily mean the original surgery was done poorly.
The bulge around your belly button deserves careful evaluation, especially since you also had a hernia repair. An ultrasound, as your surgeon recommended, is the right next step to check for recurrent hernia, scar tissue, or a fluid collection.
At eight months your healing is still ongoing, and most surgeons recommend waiting closer to a year before considering any revision. With the right imaging and follow up, a clear plan can be made to address both the contour and the belly button area if needed.

At this time, the technique I recommend if you are not planning future pregnancies is abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight. This will resolve the hernia problem you have.
