Sweating from outside heat after botox. Will this affect my results? (Photo)

Question

I was taking something out of the oven about 3 hours after Botox. So I was exposed to the oven heat for about 2-3 secs. Will this affect Botox? Also, especially with this heat wave, will perspiring 1-2 hours after Botox affect the results? I tried my best to cool myself.

Thank you for your question.  No, sweating after Botox injections from just heat should not impact your results.  I do tell patients to avoid exercise for a day to prevent dispersal of the Botox by the increased blood flow, giving it time to bind to the receptors.

Sweating or heat in this instance will have no effect on the botox.  What does have an effect is if you were constantly wiping your brow as a result of the heat. Constant massage of the area right after injection could spread the botox.

Thank you for your questions. Sweating after Botox should not affect the ultimate results but, of course, we are talking about short time of sweating and not prolonged sweating as seen in sauna or prolonged vigorous excercices.I hope that helps.

The scenario you have described won't affect your botox.  Sweating after botox won't affect your results.  Some doctors recommend not exercising the day of botox, as to not increase blood flow and potential migration of product, but I don't believe there are any studies to support this recommendation - it is only theoretical.

This is an interesting question as Botox used to have to stayed frozen until reconstituted then refrigerated and used in 24 hours. Now you can just refrigerate it and store for days. It once injected finds the area in needs to bind to quickly and once bound stable. Interesting enough is your question about heat and sweating it out. My guess is if your forehead is still sweating aggressively you didn't get good or enough Botox as it will markedly reduce your ability to sweat as it binds the glands that will cause you to perspire.

Sweating should not effect the results of Botox injections under the arms.  The material is injected into the skin, not rubbed on the skin, so there is nothing that would be removed.  It may take a week to see the effect and depending on the dose injected, you might need more medicine if you continue to sweat.

Thanks for your question. This shouldn't be a problem at all, provided you didn't press or vigorously wipe the sweat away from the area that was treated with Botox.  Doing that could cause the Botox to migrate from the injection site. Just sweating or being exposed to heat for a few seconds will not have an effect on Botox efficacy. Best of luck to you!
