Hi there. I quite young but I am very bothered by my eyelids as I feel as they make me look more aged and tired than what I actually am. It makes it difficult to do certain makeup styles on myself due to the unevenness and excessive skin. Seeing this photo of me just looking ahead, is there anything that could be done?

Answer: This is not an extra skin problem. This is an upper eyelid congenital ptosis problem. A standard blepharoplasty will be a disaster for you. Please so not follow the well meaning advice to go to a board certified plastic surgeon. Board certified plastic surgeons are broadly trained in plastic surgery but have a very limited knowledge, training, and experience with eyelid issues. It is hard to endorse a particular speciality for your issues. You need to see someone like myself with fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery. You need repair of the upper eyelid ptosis with an anterior levator resection ptosis surgery and a reconstruction of the upper eyelid crease with an anchor blepharoplasty and the creation of an upper eyelid fold. The challenge you will have in seeing an oculoplastic surgeon is that they tend to be more reconstructive and less aesthetically oriented. You need a reconstructive surgery that is also aesthetic. Sadly, only a rare surgeon offers that combination. There is no substitute for a detailed in person assessment. This can't be called in over a Zoom conference. Your eyes can be your best feature.

Answer: Can I get excess eyelid skin removed at 23? Short answer is-yes. In person exam is essential and a better set of photos. Based on a limited photo- it appears that you may benefit from upper lid blepharoplasty. I suggest that you seek an experienced Board Certified PS and review the options and details
