Can eyelid crease be lowered or cut out to create a new one?

My eyelid surgery left me unable to fully close my eyes at night. I heard tape or rubbing can stretch the eyelid. However, this can cause the tarsal plate (the skin below the crease) to expand and lead to a higher crease. Can eyelid crease be lowered or cut out to create a new one?

The inability to close the eyes at night may be due to overaggressive skin removal. However more often than not, I find that internal scaring in the eyelid and not a lack of skin is the basis for the difficulty closing the eyelids. At the time of reconstructive surgery, the crease can be lowered, the internal adhesions mobilized, and any repairs to the levator aponeurosis made as part of forming a new upper eyelid crease. What is possible in your eyelids very much depends on what resources were left by your prior surgeon. I do a detailed in person evaluation to make a good faith assessment of what I am likely to find at the time of reconstructive surger. Ultimately, I actually do not know what I will find until surgery. Some of these eyelids have far more resources left in them than appears at the time of examination. Unfortunately, the opposite is actually true. Some eyelids have so few resources left in them that there are limits to what can be accomplished by the eyelid reconstruction. There is no substitute for that individual in person assessment. Be advised that very few surgeons do this work.

If enough skin was removed that you’re unable to close your eyelids, then there’s not a lot of room for s lot of revision surgery.
Taping at night, and using ophthalmologic appointment may be helpful to protect your corneas. I suggest getting a second opinion consultation from an oculoplastic surgeon.
