Striations on upper arms 2 weeks after Vaser (Photo)

Question

I had Vaser done 2 weeks ago today. I've been wearing my compression garment all day minus showering, the 5 MLD massages, and washing the garment. The bruising is all but gone, but my arms still (I hope) are quite swollen. Today, I noticed that there are striations along the backs of my arms and a large bulge above my elbows. What is causing the striations? How can I tell what is fluid that will be absorbed vs tissue that is here to stay?

It is still very early into your healing and too soon to judge the final outcome. The final results of the procedure are typically most noticeable 2-4 months following the #Vaser. However, it may not be a bad idea to contact your doctor or their staff and inquire about your concern. At any time, you have concerns about your healing, or pain that you question to be unusual, it is important to call your plastic surgeon to discuss these further asked to be examined.

As you probably know two weeks it's very early in regards to assessing final results after liposuction.This is particularly true in regards to swelling.The striations is however not a good sign.There's a good chance that these will change and hopefully improve substantially with time.While the results of liposuction can show uneven contours early on defined irregularities may represent excessive liposuction done in particular area's or treatments done close to the skin.While I personally have axis to using a VASER I find this technology potentially excessively aggressive and avoid using it unless needed.Hopefully with time your results will continue to improve and the striations well at least minimize.My practice is almost exclusively devoted to body contouring using various forms of liposuction and fat transfer.I can tell you from personal experience that liposuction on certain anatomic aerials is technically difficult in regards to getting consistently great results.Arms it's one of those areas.The cannula's we work with are generally straight and Sharp curvature of the arms makes it difficult to get even sweeps without doing continuous liposuction in the same area over and overWhen the provider tries to perform liposuction with the least number of openings on the arms this becomes even more technically difficult.I do believe your results will improve so don't take this message as being to pessimistic.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
