Can you reverse a columella retraction suture procedure? (Photos)

Question

I did NOT ask for my columella to be reduced or even know it would be. I now have a flat, short tip, my columella is completely retracted with 0 show and my infratip lobule is gone. I’m one month out of a functional septorhinoplasty. The sutures are so tight I can’t move my lip and I am constantly I. Pain at the base of my columella. Is there a way to reverse this and get me looking pre-op again?

Hello, Thank you for your question and provided information, Since healing process requires time to go down edema&swelling and you are in very phase of recovering. You need to follow up your PS during your process. After a septorhinoplasty procedure there is not a way to go back pre-op looking. Having completed your healing to improve your nose for natural you can have revision rhinoplasty by a professional surgeon.

it is not uncommon for the nose to feel "tight" one month after surgery like this. The actual columellar show can be corrected but you would need to wait until around six months to have any revision surgery. The method of fixing it would depend on what was done in the first place. You would need to meet with some revision rhinoplasty surgeons in person to discuss the best options. Best of luck

Dear Dazzling1375, At this time you will have to be patient and wait for the swelling to dissipate before revision rhinoplasty surgery to address your retracted columella. However, you can start the process of seeking secondary opinions. I would request a copy of your operative report to bring with you to consulting surgeons so they can understand the techniques used in your primary septorhinoplasty and they can then discuss your options and your time frame for revision.
