Question

Surgeons list a million procedures on their web sites, how can they be great at all of them? I've also noticed an emphasis on breasts, eyes, body conturing and injections but not chins. If you're really good at chins and board certified raise your hand.

Dear Chinless1Chin implants are common procedures and I believe many plastic surgeons are experienced in placing chin implants. Sliding genioplasty is a different matter. This procedure is less often performed and most Plastic/facial Plastic surgeons have a more limited exposure to this procedure.As you look for the right surgeon, make sure you know enough about the topic to ask the right questions. Make sure your surgeon is Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Have consultation with more than one doctor so you can make an educated decision.

Photos or an exam of you would be needed to determine if you might be a good candidate for surgery to alter your chin.  There are various styles and sizes of chin implants that could potentially be used to help achieve your goal. A full set of photographs are required to determine if a person is a candidate for a chin implant. Chin implants are manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes, are composed of Silastic, and are inserted through submental approach under local anesthesia. Picking the right size is best determined at the time of consultation and examination, since the chin is a three-dimensional structure.  Look for a surgeon who has performed lots of chin implants  and has devoted a significant portion of their practice  to facial cosmetic surgery
