My smile after chin implant and neck lipo (Photo)

Question

I just had a chin implant and neck liposuction two weeks ago and I'm freaking out at how my smile and face is deformed. I need your input on if my smile will ever go back to normal. I am very much swollen on my right side, I am numb on my chin and my lower face is still tight. I'm very scared I've made a mistake.

Based on the pictures, you seem to have weakness of the right lower lip that doesn't allow it to pull down and match the left side.  The reason for this is probably due to the right marginal mandibular nerve, which is a branch of the facial nerve (the nerve that controls the muscles in our face and is responsible for smiling, etc).  Damage to that nerve is thankfully very rare, but is a known complication of neck liposuction and chin implant placement. It is likely to get better on its own after a few weeks to months. I would definitely talk to your surgeon about it.  I would be happy to see you at the University of Utah Facial Nerve Center.

You clearly are having an issue with the right smile.  How was your implant placed?  Under the chin or through the mouth?
