Althoughwe don’t know the exact long term effects on actual hair growth from usingLLLT, it is known to dilate blood vessels, increase circulation, and stimulatefollicles. This may give the hair the appearance of being fuller after beingused for at least 6 months. Because theLLLT is used to thicken fine, diminished follicles, laser treatment many timesis a great option for people, (especially those whose hair concerns includediffuse thinning, which is thinning of the hair as oppose to complete baldnessin areas). LLLT in conjunction with ahair transplant is another great option to stimulate growth.
In my opinion, low level laser therapy works. The FDA has approved the devices demonstrating that they are safe and effective. The older devices were not as well designed as the present. I recommend the Theradome device.PRPHAIRMD.COM
we combine theradome with PRP/progesterone and pills. I suggest you see an expert for a combination approach. Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. There are several randomized placebo controlled studies which show a benefit from LLLT. I recommend the HairMax Laser Band. Treatment times are less than 5 minutes every other day and it is quite affordable. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
There are now 5 randomized double blind placebo controlled trials of LLLT for treating AGA that suggest a benefit. We do not know if any is better than another nor is there any evidence to believe this may be the case.
Low Level Light Therapy has never been shown to work. I did a series of experiments where I offered 12 patients a laser hat and then followed them for one year. Not one of them showed benefit
Laser hair removal (LHR) is considered a hair reduction procedure. Thus, it may not get every hair on the first or even the fifth pass because each individual hair is in their own phase along the growth cycle. In other words, human hair growth is not synchronized such as what is seen in your pet...
LLLT is FDA approved for hair loss, so we know it works for 35-45% of folks. After paying for the unit, it is also the least expensive option costing a few cents/day. There are so many units on the market with competing claims. I suggest the Laser Pro which was developed by a doctor...
PRP or laser treatment does not stop genetic male pattern hair loss. It is important to understand why you are losing hair before you consider any treatment options.
