Does LLLT work for hairloss?

Question

I have seen mixed reviews online about the iGrow or the laser comb, but was just wondering. I have been using Rogaine foam once daily for 2 years and was just thinking of adding laser to my treatment. But I have only heard of laser hair removal and not hair growth, so I certainly don't want to lose my hair permanently if laser caps don't work.

There is little evidence that suggests the IGrow works for hair loss. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment combination. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone that work well with Rogaine. Hair transplantation is an alternative. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

LLLT is FDA approved for hair loss, so we know it works for 35-45% of folks. After paying for the unit, it is also the least expensive option costing a few cents/day. There are so many units on the market with competing claims. I suggest the Laser Pro which was developed by a doctor and is only sold through doctor's offices. Obviously the more Laser diodes a unit contains, the more it costs. Laser Pro is one of the more expensive units available. It is also re-chargable and mobile, and can be worn under a baseball cap.

One of my favourite studies of LLLT is a simple study by Dr Trueb from Switzerland. He studied 32 patients (21 female, 11 male) with genetic hair loss and looked at the benefits. 8 showed significant, 20 moderate, and 4 no improvement. Improvement was observed as early as 3 months and was sustained up to a maximum observation time of 24 months. LLLT is an FDA approved option to promote hair growth.  There is a combined medical synergy when combining the laser therapy with Romaine.  I specifically like the Capillus and have had tremendous success with patients.

There are no good clinical studies that show a good double blind result from LLT which means to me that it does not work.  Too many people make money selling these devices and too many people fall into the trap of buying them
