Accutane is an oral, systemic medication that addresses excess oil production, clogged pores, excessive P. acnes bacteria, and inflammation. All of these effects take place in the skin itself. In contrast, Kybella is a local therapy that uses injections of dexoycholic acid to melt submental fat. The injections go through the skin into the deeper fatty layers. Therefore, Kybella does not interact at all with Accutane or interfere with its efficacy. However, when you consult a board-certified dermatologist to be evaluated for Kybella, do mention that you are currently on Accutane.
Thank you for your question. Kybella treats fat tissue underneath the skin whereas Accutane treats the skin itself. As long as there is no significant trauma to the skin from the treatments, the Accutane should not prevent you from having treatment with Kybella.Hope this helps!
Yes. The main concern about Accutane is skin healing after laser resurfacing. Kybella is placed in the fat beneath the skin. Accutane should not affect the healing as long as it is injected properly. Best.
Accutane impedes wound healing. Kybella dissolves fat but does not create trauma to the skin so this treatment should be fine.
You can get Kybella while on Accutane. Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Kybella will go deep into the fat compartment in the chin and is well below the skin, so accutane will not be an issue. You will be fine to proceed with it.
Thank you for your question. Kybella is an injectable product that can be used to help your body to rid itself of fat cells that form under the chin (submental fat). It should not affect your Accutante treatment. For more information, please get a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.
The fat that you find so obnoxious now will likely be very important to you in 10 years. If you remove buccal fat now there is a high likelihood of you having a hollow in your cheek which looks worse with time. Neck fat is easiest taken out with a little liposuction with a syringe under local a...
I’m sorry you are feeling disappointed with your Kybella treatments. My patients love their results! If you have had two treatments overall and are not noticing a nice difference, you could switch to liposuction, which would give you a more immediate result. However, it takes up to two to th...
The FDA has only approved Kybella as being safe and effective for submental fat (double chins). However, a number of my colleagues and I have found it useful in off-label treatments as well. Off-label does not mean that it is not safe; it just means that the safety has not been verified by ...
