Does Emsculpt build muscle better than electric muscle stimulation from a machine?

Hi, I am considering Emculpt to build muscle and reduce fat but I am skeptical about the muscle build part. Electrical muscle stimulation machines have mixed reviews. Is the science behind the muscle building from Emsculpt different than electrical muscle stimulation?

HI Rob,Great question.  Emsculpt has been studied in seven independent centers that have shown that there is a 16% increase in muscle mass and surprisingly a 19% decrease in superficial abdominal fat.  The technology is one of a kind, far superior to any previous electrical stimulation (although a review of the internet will reveal old film footage of Bruce Lee and Muhammed Ali connected to electrical machines for muscle stimulation), and Emsculpt is the first and only FDA approved device for building muscle.  Choose your treating physician most carefully.  Good luck and be well.Dr. P

The technology of EMSCULPT is similar to a rocket ship where as non FDA approved at home devices are more of a paper airplane. Now, there is no such thing as magic but this device works and makes a significant difference, a commitment to a healthy lifestyle is needed to maintain and enhance results but those are committed are extremely happy and realize fitness gains they would not be able too otherwise

Thank you for your question. Emsculpt is a unique device as it uses HIFEM Technology to stimulate the motor neuron to achieve a supra-maximal contraction of your muscles. When you voluntarily contract your muscles you can only contract about 50% of the muscle fibrils. With Emsculpt, 90% of the muscle fibrils are contracted. In addition, in a 30 minute treatment you will experience 20,000 of these supra-maximal contractions. This is a level of muscle stimulation that you cannot achieve on your own and no other technology can achieve. At the 4 week mark following a series of 4 treatments over 2 weeks, the average increase in muscle was 16% with an average decrease in fat of 19%. They both use electromagnetic energy to stimulate the muscle. Emsculpt is significantly more powerful. It is able to cause supramaximal contractions, meaning much stronger than you can do in the gym. Studies have shown a 16% increase in muscle and 1 month and 19% at 6 months. As an added benefit, there is also fat loss of 19% at one month and 23% at 6 months. The otc devices cause focal contraction and not the entire muscle and not nearly to the same degree. There are multiple studies conducted at multiple sites which all had similar results. 4 sessions are needed in a 2 week period typically. A touch up every 3-6 months is often recommended.
