Looking to improve facial shape and symmetry. Would I benefit from a chin implant? I’ve tried chin filler and does not work for me. I had a tumor on my right parotid gland and my face has never been the same since. Half my face was paralyzed for about 6 months. I couldn’t use my right jaw to chew etc... and the area where the tumor was left a depression. Not looking for perfection, just as much symmetry as possible.
Answer: Chin augmentation Kristina Not sure why you had a paralysis after an injection. Regardless, a chin implant may help. Look at the web link for patients that have received a chin implant.Sincerely, Michael Kulick MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, San Francisco CA Member of ASPS, ASAPS Clinical Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Recipient of the Klingbeil Award – Teaching Safe Techniques and Advanced Technologies

Answer: Would chin implant be beneficial? Your chin appears well projected in your photographs, so I would not recommend a chin implant for you. With the pictures you provided, It is a bit difficult to evaluate the two sides of your face where your parotid tumor was located. If there is some asymmetry present on the sides of your face, it is possible that an injectable filler could help improve this issue. You mentioned you had a chin filler in the past, but perhaps it was not placed in the ideal location to help with any asymmetry.

Answer: Would I benefit from a chin implant? Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek implants, chin implants and/or lip implants), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is weak however additional photos of the sides of the face are needed to evaluate the depression that you mention. Removal of a Parotid tumor can cause depressions secondary to volume loss. These can be filled in with precise placement using various facial fillers. Following my beauty principles, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces. Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front. When the front portion of the cheeks are either flat or concave, Cheek augmentation with a dermal filler or using silastic cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face. I have performed many Chin Augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is weak. A weak chin creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty. I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. The back portion of your jaw line is a bit weak and can be augmented, without making your face appear masculine, using precise placement of a dermal filler (I prefer using Restylane Lyft). Hope this helps.
