I just had my BBL (1 week ago) and I am having a hard time not working out. I understand the no strenuous workouts for 4-6 weeks, but could I do back and upper body shortly after? I walk A LOT like my surgeon recommended, but I was wondering if I could do solely upper body (not even enough to break a sweat)?
Answer: After a Brazilian Butt Lift, usually you can resume workout within a few week or so depending on how your healing is progressing After a Brazilian Butt Lift, usually you can resume working out within a few weeks or so depending on how your healing is progressing and when you are comfortable doing so. It also depends on what specific procedures you had done as well as how your recovery is going.Obviously the body heals with swelling and inflammation and usually that maxes out at two days and then starts getting better. Most of these patients take no pain medicine (because of the nerve blocks given during surgery) and usually feel very comfortable going out in public the same or next days. I usually call my patients the night of surgery and check on them in person the next day. If everything is fine the next day, I then let them shower and they do not need a dressing over their incisions. At the two week check up, I usually have people start working out and then after six weeks they can do whatever they want. I routinely tell people to take a few days to a week off work and to hide out but some people are very nervous especially celebrities and they might hide out for two weeks. As with any scar on the human body, initially scars are red, hard and raised and it typically takes six months to a year for them to become a soft thin white line. Additionally with recovery, there're many things we do to expedite healing such as nerve blocks during surgery, oral supplements, skin care and scar therapy recommendations, lymphatic massage sessions that are included in our pricing.I strongly feel that it's very important to have an honest conversation with your surgeon about your particular situation, lifestyle, work environment and specifically which procedures you're having done so that you both have the most honest answer about your recovery and are realistic with expectations and results.I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of butt lifts. I hope my answer helps and if it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right. Have a great day.

Answer: Exercise after surgery I recommend my patients wait to resume exercise until 3 weeks post op. At this point they can resume cardio (walking, jogging, elliptical with no arms, stationary bike). Then they may resume all other exercise, weights, yoga, pilates etc at 6 weeks post op. I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon, as they may have specific recommendations and restrictions. Best of luck!

Answer: AVOID VIGOROUS ACTIVITIES FOR 4-6 WEEKS AFTER BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT. Hello bigreef, I understand your frustration. However, resting is essential for your proper recovery. I typically recommend my patients to abstain completely from lifting heavy objects, children or pets for 4-6 weeks. You should be up and walking the night after surgery, although slowly. It is important to walk to discourage swelling and to prevent blood clots in the legs. As short as one week after the surgery, patients could return to work and their normal daily life. After 2 weeks, they can gradually resume physical activity. Nonetheless, avoid strenuous exercise for four to six weeks, because it can trigger unnecessary fluid retention in the treated areas. As each case is different, consult with your plastic surgeon about your specific needs and concerns. With appreciation, Dr. De La Cruz.
