Sciatic pain after Seroma drainage? How long until butt implants are not sore anymore? When do you finally obtain full mobility?

Hello, and thanks for the question. I am assuming you had an intra-muscular placement of your buttock implants (as opposed to placing the implant under the muscle fascia or on top of the muscle). This is the best area to place the implants in terms of additional tissue coverage, a more natural look and feel, and less chance of implant migration or malposition.However, because this is a deeper pocket for the implant, it is closer to the sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in the body, providing sensation and motor function muscles in the leg. The implant does not sit on the nerve (there is still 2 layers of muscle between the implant and the nerve), but swelling and inflammation in the tissues from the implant placement can indirectly affect the nerve and cause some sciatica (pain down the back of the leg and sometimes onto the foot). A seroma (a fluid collection around the implant) could possibly cause additional pressure on the nerve and lead to sciatica. The important thing is that this condition almost always goes away with time as the swelling and inflammation decreases. This may take several more weeks, or even a couple of months, but I have never seen it become a chronic problem.The best thing to do is to manage the pain with anti-inflammatory pain relievers (which you are doing) and stay reasonably active with walking throughout the day. As the gluteus muscle contracts with walking, the implant moves slightly in the pocket, and pressure is taken off of the underlying sciatic nerve. The pocket will also develop a lining (capsule) that will separate the implant from the surrounding tissues to some degree, thereby relieving pressure on the nerve.You should ultimately be fine.
