I had a rhinoplasty over 1 year ago but one side of my nose(the tip) is bigger than the other side. I know I have thick skin and it feels like congestion/inflammation, but its been so long since the surgery. Will kenalog injections help correct this or is it a problem with the stitches not holding?

Answer: Post Rhinoplasty with Asymmetry 22222,Rhinoplasty is a technically challenging procedure in part because the mirror image of one side of the nose is right next to it -- any small asymmetries are going to be noticeable, even to the untrained eye.It is, of course, difficult to determine (based on photos) alone the cause of your particular asymmetry. It may be persistent swelling and thick nasal skin and if so it may respond to steroid injections. It may also be an asymmetry of the underlying cartilage.Additionally, and importantly, you note some congestion. A nasal airway that breathes worse after rhinoplasty is a "no-no". The patient is not required to compromise function for form. It sounds like you have a lot to discuss with your surgeon. Have a frank conversation with him/her outlining these concerns. Get a sense of what he or she is willing to do for you. And don't hesitate to get a second opinion from a Board-Certified Facial Plastic or General Plastic Surgeon who has experience with rhinoplasty, if necessary.
