Dear Patient: its normal to feel swollen after a Full Tummy Tuck and liposuction are performed on a patient. You should keep wearing your compression garment and also keep your post-operative appointments. Swelling and a feeling of "numbness" in the area are normal for patients to experience anywhere up to eight weeks or more. You should start seeing the final results approaching the six month mark. Thank you for your question and photos. You should expect to have swelling for three to six months following tummy tuck surgery. Use of a properly fitted compression garment will help decrease the length and severity of the post-operative swelling. As the swelling decreases, the contour of your abdomen, flanks, and hips will dramatically improve. Please follow your plastic surgeons specific advice regarding your level of physical activity.
