Hi, I only know of one doctor in San Diego area who is using PRP and Hyaluronic acid filler for the breast area. Is this procedure uncommon or safe? I am interested in a slight enhancement with no surgery.

Answer: Filler for breast enhancement only for minor defects You can use hyaluronic acid in your breasts but as mentioned before can get pricey. It also depends on how much you need and what your goals are. If you have a small area/crease/defect then I think it makes perfect sense. Any larger defect (like a lumpectomy divot) would best benefit from a fat transfer.

Answer: Hyaluronic acid filler to enhance breasts? Is this procedure uncommon or safe? It is expensive, requiring significant amount of filler with only a small temporary improvement, neither hyaluronic acid fillers nor PRP is FDA approved for the breast, and multiple complications have been reported from outside of the U.S. I wou;d be concerned about any physician offering this treatment now and would suggest that your plastic surgeon be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
