How do I find an ADVANCED injector with lots of experience with dermal fillers in San Diego?

Question

i went to a board certified dermatologist in san diego who also trains other physicians in injections. i spared no expenses and went w who appeared to be the best. i ended up overfilled and i got a lumpy saggy jaw and huge cheeks when smiling. i recently moved to sd and i am not sure how to trust anyone. i need someone with advanced injector skills who wont create lumps ( i have internal scar tissue due to trauma) and with an aesthetic eye who looks at my anatomy rather than what a book says.

Facial fillers using Hyaluronic acid can cause immediate swelling and uneven contour. The swelling usually subsides with time. I recommend applying Plato's Bruise Balm twice daily for a few days after injecting my patients. If the filler lumps do not resolve, then a small injection of Hylenex usually can correct an HA filler that is overdone. If Hylenex does not work, combination injections with verapamil or corticosteroid IIT may help. 
In some cases, Venus Viva RF can help tighten skin thereafter.

Excellent question and just like any other treatment how to pick the right person. Its very difficult and I personally donot believe in all the degrees at the end of the name. yes they mean something but as far as surgical skill and precision is concerned they don't co relate well. Online reviews help but again could be selective. My recommendation is ask your friends or just go in for several consultations at different clinics and then get a feel of the injector. At some stage you will get the right injector who understands what you need and is on the conservative end. Eventually you have to try out. Try with botox first and see what results and follow up you get before going into fillers. Good luck. if you find a trick please share.

You'll want to see a board certified doctor with skill, expertise, and the best techniques with dermal fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Look at doctors who do live filmings, teachings, and have good before and after photos on social media sites! Don't let distance dissuade you. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
