I received 30 units of Botox a week ago. Ptosis set in 4 days later with progressive worsening to this 3 days after initial set in. I have received drops from my plastic surgeon to try to improve the symptoms. What should I expect for timeline with the extent of my ptosis. Thank you.
Answer: Droopy eyelids safter Botox Thank you for your question asweganj. I am sorry to hear about your situation. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. A rare side effect of Botox is droopy eyelids. This is temporary and treatable. It is treated with apraclonidine 0.5% ophthalmic solution 2-3 drops per affected eye 2-3 times per day. Depending on the severity it will resolve as quickly as 2-3 weeks after the treatment to as long as 3-4 months after the treatment. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: Ptosis This is very unfortunate, however it should last less than a month. Iopidine eye drops will take a few days to reach maximum effect but they can help improve things a bit. Sometimes it helps to "exercise" the eye, ie. covering the unaffected eye and practice opening the affected eye very widely several times a day. This is sometimes done to help things resolve more quickly. Ultimately, time will resolve your condition even if nothing is done. I would recommend fewer units of Botox in the future as one way to help avoid this again.
