Can I still go braless after breast augmentation?

Question

I am very much interested in getting a breast augmentation. However, I prefer to be braless most of the time. I'm currently a small 34C and almost never wear a bra. I'd hate to have to start once my breasts are larger. Would it still be possible to continue going braless after an augmentation?

Whether you should wear a bra after surgery is really up to you.  The purpose of the bra is to prevent sagging which will be a bigger problem with larger implants.  The bra takes the weight of the implants off the skin.  Whether it truly makes a difference over time in a particular situation is difficult to know.

Yes, you can go braless after a breast augmentation surgery, but the larger your implant the less likely that this will be comfortable for you. Also, wearing a supportive bra will help your breasts maintain a perky and youthful appearance .

Whether or not you feel comfortable without a bra after augmentation depends on many factors:  your skin tone, your activity level, the size, shape, and consistency of your implants, position of implant placement, your chest anatomy, the type of clothes you wear, and your other personal preferences.  Without more information, really cannot comment meaningfully, or predict if you'll still enjoy braless.

I typically recommend to women that they should wear bras to help support their breasts.  This is especially true when you have larger breasts.  Gravity will work against you over time and having that support will be beneficial in the long term.

Most surgeons recommend wearing bras after surgery as it helps to support the tissues and can reduce strain on the skin ove the years.  The larger and more projected the breasts, the more gravity acts on them.  If you have fairly elastic skin and firmer tissues, gravity will be less of a problem but there are still some things to consider. I think it would be fine to have an augmentation and not wear a bra that often, but you should adjust your implants for this lifestyle.  Avoid large, higher profile implants and stay with more modest sized implants with a moderate profile to reduce projection and the resulting drooping.  I would also recommend considering textured implants (particularly textured anatomical) for maximum stability in the pockets.  Finally, you should still wear a sports bra when involved in impact exercises to reduce wear and tear on the skin.  Hope that helps!

As a general rule, I have my breast augmentation patients wear a bra after they’ve had a breast augmentation. However, if you are a patient who has had preoperatively a small A cup or with tight skin envelope (meaning a pretty flat chest), and you are going with a small C cup, then your breasts are relatively firm (this is after the implants). With not too much movement in the breast, you could occasionally go braless, but I recommend wearing a bra when you are involved in sport activities.

But definitely not recommended to be without a bra all the time, the support is helpful long term. are allowed for short periods of time, but not 'forever' as you desire.  If you want to go braless and still have an augmentation, a shaped textured implant would be recommended as they tend to resist gravity more if they heal ideally.  Otherwise gravity will pull down on free floating implants an eventually create an unhappy outcome.

Yes you can but I don't recommend this to my patients.  I recommend a good supportive bra for 3-4 weeks.  Why ruin a good surgery? Support the surgery and support the incisions.  Don't go bra less in my opinion.  Also we recommend a nighttime bra that I recently have been telling my patients to get.  Called the nightlift bra....pretty great bra to wear at night in my humble opinion... wish I had developed it!  check it out  on line .. it gives great support and keeps the breast where they should be!  Remember gravity is always working to pull them down.   Good luck.
