Thanks for the question. I suggested the patients wear no underwear for a month after operation. If you wear a bra, underwear much, it can hold the implants higher and block them from falling into position. This permits the implants to fall into position. I wish you all the best.
Thanks for the question I suggest 6 weeks for a sports bra. This will help to keep the swelling down. I advise to go to an underwired bra after 6 weeks. I hope this is of helpBW
Thank you for your question! I tell my patients to wear comfortable sports bras or bras for at least one month after surgery and to avoid wearing bras with underwire during this time. The underwire in a bra can rub against the incision site and cause a lot of irritation and prevent the incision from healing properly. It is best to wait 6-8 weeks before proper sizing to allow for swelling to resolve itself. If you have any further questions I recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon to discuss his/her protocol after surgery. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question.Depending on the particulars of your surgery and the implants that you have the length of time you will be required to wear the bra will vary. It may be anything form 6-12 weeks.
This is a very important question with probably different answers by different surgeons. Bras are usually used for a few different purposes:compressing the breast to reduce bleedinghold the implants in position after surgeryreduce painIn my practice of breast augmentation, the implant is placed in the subfascial plane, with no cuts in the pectoralis muscles. The overall bleeding in these cases is less than 2-3 cc per breast with no drain placement. The fascia holds the implant in place while proper hemostasis prevents the need for compression to reduce bleeding and hematomas. Therefore, I do not make the patients wear any bras in the immediate postoperative period. If they want to, they can wear a sportive bra for support. However this is not mandatory. Since sleeping on the breasts is forbidden for a minimum of 6 weeks, use of a bra at nights can help prevent any unwanted trauma to the breasts.Hope this helps,Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey
Thanks for your question! This is a very popular question after breast augmentation surgery, & the answer really varies from surgeon to surgeon. In my experience of doing thousands of breast augmentation surgeries, I tell my patients to wear a sports bra for 3 weeks solid, then at night for 2 months thereafter. They can wear under wire bras during the day after week 3. This has served me very well in my 16 years of practice. Best of luck to you!
Hello,Thank you for your question. This is commonly asked but the answers you receive will vary. Some plastic surgeons do not advise consistent use of a post op bra. I provide a post-surgical bra which offers compression and support after surgery and this is to be worn for 8 weeks, day and night. Most surgeons will advise you to avoid underwire bras for at least 6 weeks after BA surgery. I recommend that you ask your surgeon what their protocols are.All the best
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have patients wear a soft bra after breast augmentation for a few weeks to splint everything, and at that point the scars are generally very stable and we move to normal bras (or none) and long term scar management. Best person to advice you will be your specific surgeon.
Thank you for your question. This question comes up often. Each surgeon will have their own recommendation; however as a rule of thumb, I prefer my patient's to wear a soft foundation bra garment for 6 weeks and to wait to switch to an underwire at 12 weeks. It is my preference that patients wear a sports bra for compression for a bout 1 month postop. I usually tell patients they can wear a regular bra at that time. An underwire bra should be avoided for about 2 months after surgery. Make sure you discuss with your plastic surgeon their preferences. I hope this was helpful.
