Too much lid showing after eyelid surgery, how can I fix this?

I had upper eyelid surgery 4 months ago and after all the swelling and everything has gone down I notice I have to much lid and I hate the way it looks. I wanted just a subtle change and a little skin removed from the outer edges that were heavy. My eyes now look completely different. What can I do to reverse this surgery and have less lid showing?

There are many causes for an unnatural look after upper blepharoplasty.  Fortunately in most cases the appearance of the eyelids can be significantly  improved.  Seek out an expert plastic surgeon with lots of experience correcting this type of issue.  After a thorough in person evaluation, the actual reason for this look can be determined.  In some patients surgical lowering of the crease is indicated, in some patients judicious use of fillers of fat graft can camouflage excess removal of skin and fat.

Kimberly,Including photos would be very helpful in allowing us to understand better your concerns.Sometimes after surgery it can be shocking to see a different version of ourselves. I'd suggest you seek independent evaluations from those who know and love you. If they don't see a problem, then you might consider giving yourself time to adjust.If they also see a problem, then I suggest you return to your surgeon for an evaluation.Some options could include, fillers or fat placement around the eye.I hope this was helpful and best of luck.

Since you said you don't like the appearance after the swelling has subsided I'm going to assume that you don't like the "hollow" look that has now developed. If that is the case then I suggest you consider fat transfer to the upper orbit and brow. When properly done it can create a natural appearance that is youthful and attractive.

This question is somewhat vague  It can mean many things, but I believe that you mean that too much skin may have been removed, but you may mean that not enough was removed.  In either case I would recommend that you seek out a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in eyelid surgery.  You may want to get more than one opinion. Make sure you bring with you to your consultaton your before photos, preferably taken by your surgeon before your procedure. I have had cases where we could use autologous fat in the lower part of the orbital rim and lessen the appearance of to much lid showing, or to restore fat in the upper eyelid hollow (sulcus) if too much fat was removed, giving a skeletal look.  Sometimes we have to use skin grafts to replace too much skin being removed.

It would be helpful if you brought with you your original pre-operative photographs to help discuss what your original concern was and then the surgeon can compare that to what you do not like now about your eyelid appearance.
