It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. With two board certified vein specialists, our center uses a combination of visual examination, functional flow measurements, ultrasound, transillumination, and infrared light to map out vein networks prior to therapy. Lasers can be used to treat deep varicose vein insufficiency, vein perforators, and varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is ideal for spider veins and reticular veins. Whereas surgery is reserved for severely incompetent varicose vein segments.Best,Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Laser would work but extreme care needs to be taken to reduce likelihood of tissue compromise.Lasers are preferred by most practitioners who treat these.H Karamanoukian MD FACScertified vein specialist
Hands down the best treatment is a Vascular laser , like Cutera's CoolGlide or Excel V. The parameters for eliminating these blood-filled lesions on the lips have been well-established and the risk of complications is far less than with injection schlerotherapy treatments for the face.#venouslaketreatments; #vascularlasertreatments #liplesions
Superficsl laser treatment is your answer. Many doctor offices have a variety of lasers that should help. govdee a vein specialist, plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist.
For what you describe, laser treatment would almost certainly be a better choice. Not that sclerotherapy would not or could not work, but laser treatments, with the right laser, give excellent results, with no downtime, and very low risk of injury or complication. We have had great success in our office with these types of patients. There are several lasers that can treat this type of lesion, so you should be seen by an experienced vein specialist.
Sclerotherapy is injection of medication directly into problematic spider and varicose veins, which cause them to collapse and disappear over time. However, the treatment that we recommend for our patients with veins on the lips and face would be to use laser therapy. Specifically we recommend the Cutera Excel V laser. We typically do not use sclerotherapy on the face because arteries and veins run very closely together in this area and there is a high risk of complication. Even with laser therapy, treatment of facial veins requires a highly skilled doctor and you should go see a board certified vein specialist.
I have had nice results treating venous lake on the lip with YAG laser. This is less invasive than other types of treatments. Make sure to see a dermatologist to verify the diagnosis and determine the best treatment plan. Regards,Dr. Ort
I have found the Dornier 940 topical laser to work very well on lip venous lakes. Sclerotherapy may work but the laser is much better.

You have laser induced hypopigmentation. I would start with Melarase AM and Melarase PM creams followed by fractional laser and Melapeels to help correct the problem. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles vein expert
Thank you for your question in regards to sclerotherapy. Staining occurs when blood remains trapped in the vein after sclerotherapy. It will eventually break down, but can take up to a year. Laser treatments can help break up the dyschromia faster. To be sure what is best for you, see two or...
I am an expert in the treatment of undereye veins and demonstrated my technique on The Doctors television show. I would suggest only the ligation and phlebectomy technique. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles vein expert
