Hello, it is likely that there may have been an unrelated small lentigo (pigmented area) that preexisted the injection and since has gotten bigger. If you have pre injection photos, you can compare this area. You may want to have an oculoplastic surgeon see you to examine this spot. So far as filler under the eye, it should ideally last around 9-10 months on average but each person's metabolism is different (as you stated) and placement of filler and product choice also dictate the longevity.
