How many vials of Kybella do I need? (Photos)

I usually start with 2 treatments and 2 vials and reassess after 2-3 months. You can obtain a more predictable and immediate result with chin and jawline liposuction. The costs are comparable. Good luck

You will probably do okay with two treatments of 2 vials of Kybella each. So at least 4 vials initially up to 8 vials I would start with that and re-evaluate to see if you need one or two more treatments.

It looks like you would need at least two treatments with Kybella of 2 to 4 vials each. I don’t do more than that during one session because I like to keep post-procedure swelling to a minimum. As a bonus, you should get some skin contraction from the Kybella, too, as we did not note an increase in skin laxity when patients have destruction of the fat under their chin.  Consulting a board-certified dermatologist in person will get you a better idea of what you will need and the kinds of results you can expect. My Kybella patients have been thrilled with how it’s been able to melt away their double chins without surgery!

Celinae,I suggest starting with 2 vials per treatment and doing 2 treatments.  You should see a noticeable improvement with 2 treatments.  At that point, I'd reassess with photos and see if more treatments are necessary.Good luck!

The amount of Kybella our clinicians suggest for patients depends on the amount of bulk they have.  Although your pictures are helpful, an actual assessment that includes palpating the fat is helpful.  Kybella is a great treatment and our patients love their results.  I truly believe in this product.  I suggest  you seek an in person consultation with an expert injector.  I also think it's best to not go against your injectors advice to save money.  For instance, if the injector suggests 3 or 4 vials, but this costs more than you want to spend, I would continue to save my money until you were able to do the suggested amount.  This will prevent you from feeling like you saw no results from 1 or 2 vials.  At my practice we charge a flat rate for the first Kybella treatment, rather than charging patients per vial.  This allows for patients to get the amount suggested by the injector.  Our nurse practitioner, Grace, and registered nurse, Marty, frequently use Kybella to help our patients achieve their goals.  Hope this helps!   

Since I cannot examine you, this is nothing more than a guess. I would suggest 2 vials and 3 sessions every 6 weeks until completed. This means a total of 6 vials. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

In the right hands, Kybella yields great results. The number of vials needed varies greatly from patient to patient. On average, 3-5 treatments are needed for most patients. During a particular treatment session, 2-4 vials are usually used. You look to be on the lower end of the spectrum regarding number of vials needed, but it is impossible for anyone to predict with absolute certainty. 

I also offer liposuction and other non-invasive options for fat reduction, but I think Kybella has been a great choice for my patients who clearly do not want a surgical procedure. 

Keep in mind, it will take a series of treatments and a combination approach to get good results with Kybella. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Dear celinae90,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

Thank you for the question and pictures.   It's really hard to know how many vials you need from pictures.  I think that 2 vials per treatment for 3 treatments would give you a good result, and then you could decide if you wanted to go further after that.  Good luck!
