How far in advance should I get a consultation for procedures?

It is never to soon to start the educational process.  A consultation does not obligate you to anything.  At the consultation you identify your concerns, learn about the options, and develop a plan with the surgeon.  At this point you can find out which operations best for you, how much time you will need to recover, and how much the surgery will cost.  As it gets closer to the planned surgery, you will meet with the surgeon again to see if anything has changed, answer any more of your questions, and make plans for the operation.  If you start early, it will take the pressure of time off of you, making it easier to think clearly about whether you like the doctor and what they have to offer, and also to define your goals.  Planning ahead is always better than rushing into something.

I always feel like it's good to come in sooner rather than later...for example if there were medical issues, or if you thought you needed procedure X but your plastic surgeon thought procedure Y is better, then you would like to know that well in advance.  Sometimes I see someone who wants surgery ASAP but has some issue that holds them up...so again come in sooner and at least you can have a definite plan.I hope that helps!

It can take time to pick a surgeon, so it is not too early to start now. You will also have the ability to pick your date! Be sure to see Board Certified Plastics Surgeons and ask to see before and after pictures. Good luck!

You can have a consultation now to see if you are a good candidate and to also take your time to find a surgeon you like. I would see at least three surgeons before making your decision. It's never really too early to gather information and get different opinions as there are several ways to perform a breast lift.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

I agree that it's never too soon to have a consultation. The more informed you are about a procedure the more comfortable you will be when it comes time to have it done. Consulting with a surgeon early on allows you to ask as many questions as you want and not feel rushed about your procedure. It will also allow you enough time to save up for the procedure, if necessary. In general, having a consultation 1-2 months before a procedure will make scheduling easier and give you enough time to build a relationship with your surgeon. Good luck!

No , it is not too early.  End of year scheduling fills up earlier than it does in most other times due to vacations, end of year tax and insurance issues and the like. The sooner you get started, the less rushed you will feel about scheduling, needing other opinions, and so forth.  All the best. 

Hello and thank you for your question. It is never too far in advance to get a consulting so that you can get acquainted with your surgeon or if not satisfied get more consultations. Once you have determined who your ps is going to be, then you can get your finances arranged and see your ps closer to the time that you want your surgery. The earlier you determine whom your ps is going to be the better the chance you have of finding a surgery date that suits you.Peter Fisher M.D. 

It is never too soon for a consultation.  Plastic Surgeons and operating rooms are extremely busy at the end of the year.  We have patients who will schedule their surgeries months in advance for those end of the year slots.  Consult with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons for your best results.  Best to you!
