The amount of neuromodulator use is variable for each patient and can depend on a number of different factors. It is recommended you follow up with your injector to help discuss desired results and changes to dosing.
The number of units needed for masseter reduction will vary by patient. Some will see a difference with 30 units, while others may need more. If after two weeks you are still not seeing an adequate improvement, retur to your injector for a touch up.
The typical dose administrated in the masseter muscle is 30-40 units per side. Regardless, it's always best to "start low" and "go slow," that being said starting conservative. Additional Dysport can always be added at a later date. An in-person consultation with an experienced injector can help provide further information.Best,Dr. Anil Shah, MD FACS
I would say 30 units for each masseter muscle would be the low end of the range I would use, but I have used that amount in some people with an adequate effect. I would wait a couple of weeks after the treatment and more could always be added if needed.
Hi,Thank you for your question.30U of dysport per side is a conservative treatment but there's no problem with starting low- you may just need a touch up at 2 weeks.I typically start with 40-50U per side and reassess the masseters at 2 weeks. Since the masseters are a bulky muscle, it can take more than one treatment and a couple of months to see the full results as the muscle atrophies.Hope this helps!
The administration of botox/dysport is a highly technical procedure. There are so many factors to consider to determine if you are a good candidate for it, best neurotoxin to use, the right amount, injection technique, etc. Please contact a qualified provider or a board-certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures.
Depending on how strong the Masseter muscle is will depend on how many units you will need to treat the area. At Star Cosmetic Medicine an average amount is 60 units on each side (approx 25 units of botox). Therefore 60 units total seems like a small amount to make a reasonable difference. It also depends on what you are looking to achieve. I would wait 4 weeks for the full effect and then see if you need a top up if you are still unsatisfied with results.
While it is difficult to say without an in-person consultation, 30 units of Dysport in the each side of the jaw would be enough to have some effect. There is a chance you may need more depending on the results you hope to achieve. That being said, you can always receive more Dysport, but you cannot remove it once injected. I would recommend waiting 2 weeks until the full-effects come in and then scheduling a follow-up visit with your provider to go over your results.
Thank you for your question. The typical dose for the masseter muscle is 38-100 units per side. Regardless, it's always best to "start low" and "go slow," meaning that additional Dysport can always be added at a later date. An in-person consultation with an experienced injector can help provide further information.
Hi,I often use 30 U of Dysport per side when treating masseter muscle ( 3 injection points at 10U per injection). It is a good starting dose for a medium to smaller size masseter muscle, and you will see results. At two weeks follow up doctor can assess your muscle activity and add some more of Dysport if needed.Best Wishes from Melbourne, Australia
