What can I do about the crazy under eye swelling after IPL? (Photo)

IPL can cause swelling.  My suggestion is to call your physician, a board certified cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  Antihistamines, cool compresses, oral steroids and diuretics are all options to help.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You can get some swelling after an IPL but it should go down within 3-5 days.  I would apply a cold compress 2-3 a day.  If it does not go away after 3-5 days I would notify the facility where you had the treatment or your MD.

IPL can cause slight swelling for some patient and usually resolves within 3-4 days.  The under eye area may be more prone to swelling as the skin in this location is very thin.  If the swelling does not resolve in a couple days, I would recommend to f/u with a dermatologist at the facility you visited.  It is unlikely that the swelling will be permanent.  

I would say that is some very significant swelling. Did the person apply a topical numbing cream beforehand? I'm thinking you may have had a reaction to that. "This
