I am 16 DPO with Allergan 410 FX 315cc implants. My left is still sore and seems to be more swollen and tight. My right feels pretty normal, softer and smaller. My question is will my breast grow closer together as my implants drop and fluff?
Answer: Breast Augmentation - Will my breasts grow closer together? Thank you for your question and congratulations on your breast augmentation. You are still very early in the healing process and, if your implants were placed in the sub-muscular position, they have not yet had enough time to drop and settle into their final position. When you have allowed enough time for your implants to fully settle (3-4 months) you might feel as though your implants seem 'closer' than they do currently. With that said, and as depicted in the pre-op photos you included, you had some distance between your breast pre-operatively that will remain present and unchanged as a result of your surgery. A patients pre-op anatomy will largely dictate the amount of cleavage a patient can expect to achieve from a breast augmentation alone, as nipple placement and intra-mammary distance cannot be altered. I would recommend following up with your operating surgeon to discuss your progress thus far. I wish you all the best and hope that you find this helpful!

Answer: Give your breasts some time to settle and heal. As you are very early on in the healing process, it is likely that your breasts will change over the coming months. Although breast implants do “settle,” keep in mind the distance between the breasts seen pre-operatively will not change following breast augmentation. My advice to you is to have patience, wait for your body to recover and see how you feel about your breast implants in about 3 to 6 months. If you have any concerns, you should contact your plastic surgeon for advice on how to proceed.

Answer: Will my breasts grow closer together? Your breasts will not move closer together over time. The footprint of your breasts and where the implants are placed determine the amount of cleavage following breast augmentation.

Answer: Will my breast grow closer together after breast augmentation? Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to accurate assessment, advice, and predictions. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery. The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. Many of my patients report that as the swelling around the breast implants (for example, in the sternal area) decreases and the overlying tissues relax, they feel that their breasts appear more projecting (and that they have better "cleavage"). Also, in my opinion, the "drop and fluff” phenomenon does hold some validity; as breast implants “settle”, many patients feel that their breasts actually look larger. Similarly, it takes a few months for the breasts to "soften" in most cases. Most of my patients tell me that their breast implants feel "part of them" somewhere between 3 to 6 months after surgery was performed. There is definitely a physiologic and "psychological" (body image) adaptation process that occurs, at differing rates for every patient, for patients who undergo any type of aesthetic surgery, including breast augmentation surgery. Understandably, patients often experience significant emotional "ups and downs" around the time of surgery. Best wishes.

Answer: Will my breast grow closer together? Hi there, Thank you for your question. At 16 days post op your breasts are healing at different rates. It appears as though you are healing well, assess the results at 3-6 months. The breasts will get somewhat closer together as they "fluff".
