I have been on the keto diet for three months which is a high fat diet therefor my cholesterol levels are high approximately 272 whereas the recommended levels are 199. I am 5’3 150 pounds with no health issues at all, can this be a concern for my doctor to clear me for my lipo surgery?

Answer: Medical problems and plastic surgery Typically, isolated high cholesterol would not preclude you from having elective surgery. High cholesterol long term leads to circulatory problems and heart disease, so should be controlled. Best to get a checkup with your primary care doctor to make sure your risk factors are safe for cosmetic surgery. Most of the time, with the proper checkup with your doctor, labs, EKG etc, serious risks can be identified beforehand.

Answer: Recommendations Hello; thank you for your questions. Every plastic surgeon has their own criteria about the preop laboratories and condition. I personally recommend you to talk first with your primary care phisician to start a treatment a/o diet to decrease the cholesterol levels before surgery.
